Trekking in Val di Sole; immersed in nature

A trekking holiday? In Val di Sole, you are spoiled for choice!
Whether you are with a special someone, alone or with your children, no stay in Trentino is complete without an excursion with walking shoes on your feet and a rucksack on your back.

Near our Hotel and in the surrounding area, there are hundreds of trails to choose from; even trails with gentle slopes for families or those a little out of shape, intermediate trails for those wanting to experience the satisfaction of starting on the valley floor and reaching the high-altitude Alpine chalets, as well as true climbs and crossings for Alpine experts with stamina!

During a trek in Val di Sole, you will have the opportunity to explore the Stelvio National Park and the Adamello Brenta Nature Park; you will cross unique natural settings, forests where it is easy to spot deer and squirrels, meadows with Alpine dairies and cows, silent white peaks and barren Alpine landscapes where the only sound is the whistle of the marmots and the rush of the waterfalls.

Here, water plays a lead role

Val di Sole is one of the valleys in Trentino with the most waterways, and this is why many trails follow torrents, pass by spectacular waterfalls and reach stunning high-altitude lakes. Biodiversity and bright colours; a walk or a trek to discover our “blue gold” will make you literally fall in love with nature.

The spectacular waterfalls

It is not a question of age; the majestic waterfalls fascinate adults and children alike. If you are looking for a demonstration of the force of water, don’t miss out on excursions to visit the waterfalls of the Val di Sole; crashing water, reflections, wilderness and cool temperatures even on the hottest days.

  • Excursion to the Saent waterfalls. Two extraordinary waterfalls immersed in the wilderness of the Stelvio Park, wooden bridges and stone steps to take you right into an environment that delivers thrills with every step.
  • Walk to the Cadini waterfall. A waterfall that seems to spring from the depths of the forest, reachable via a road that dates back to the First World War; from the panoramic viewpoint you can enjoy the view of the waterfall in all its glory.
  • With your children to the Valorz waterfalls. A walk dedicated to younger children with the start and finish near to a play park with rafts, mini-windmills and Kneipp therapy.

Treasures set into the mountains; excursions to the Alpine lakes

There are almost 100 lakes in Val di Sole, each more spectacular than the last and positioned at between 300 and 3,000 metres above sea level. Some are jealously hidden by the mountains, while others are easy to reach with a simple stroll; these splendid bodies of water will be the destination for your excursions in Val di Sole, or the backdrop for your relaxing day in the mountains.

  • Lake Caprioli. A splendid lake with grassy beaches, tables and benches for picnics and a truly unforgettable panorama. The lake can be reached with a pleasant and simple walk.
  • Lake Pian Palù. This circuit, which can be walked in 4 hours and is suitable for children who have already begun walking in the mountains, will lead you to a spectacular blue lake. Along the way, you will also be able to spot century-old larch trees.
  • The glacial lakes of Cevedale. A long climb beneath a wild and truly fascinating peak will lead you to discover a wide range of high-altitude lakes. The glacial environment, made up of moraines and scree, is sure to make a lasting impression. The entire ring route will take you around 6 hours, with a climb of more than 900 metres.

Treks to high-altitude chalets

Some treks in Val di Sole lead to high-altitude mountain chalets, where you can take a break, enjoy a fresh drink, and even enjoy the typical food of our region while admiring panoramas that seem to go on for ever. Among the most famous chalets in our valley is the Rifugio Orso Bruno, which can be reached directly from our Hotel, the Rifugio Denza at 2,298 metres above sea level, the Rifugio Dorigoni at 2,436 metres above sea level, and the Alpine Rifugio Larcher at 2,582 metres above sea level. Make sure you have trekking boots suitable for the mountains, snacks and water; the climbs are often challenging, but the view from the top is truly priceless!

Easy excursions in Val di Sole; walks with children!

More than just challenging walks, Val di Sole is also suitable for families that want to enjoy a simple excursion with young children, even with pushchairs! Our Family Hotel will be able to give you information on all the best walks in Folgarida and the surrounding area.
